Infomation about Blood Battery

Blood Battery

We all know that batteries are useful and helpful inventions but if our subject area is health it will need some improvements, won’t it?

A scientist team studying in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has been working on this research recently and they claim that it will gain a paramount importance on new treatments.

How does it work?
The Blood Battery absorbs the electrolytes that are found in bodily fluids. No chemical stuff is used; instead, it supplies its energy from glucose. The blood battery looks like a paper but not just an ordinary paper; it is based on natural and synthetic tiny coin. Approximately 88 percent of it is made from cellulose and it produces 0.2 mill watt energy. Do not even think that the energy it produces is very little and useless.

Blood batteriesWhy blood batteries?
Japanese scientists have improved the blood battery for the future needs such as artificial hearts as it will supply continuous energy and will fortunately prevent the battery exchange.

Moreover, through the agency of nanotechnology, it can be used away from the body. Scientists have created an “ionic fluids” or rather, salt in liquid form which provides the electrolytes. Its paper-like appearance gives the opportunity of flexible use. Also, it is believed that, in the near future, you can find these batteries from stationeries and copy them from long sheets that will be cut in to small pieces. During the important operations such as transplantation or pacemakers, they will inevitably be used.

Is everybody going to be able to use this?
On the other hand, people think that they may have problems when they carry this “paper” in their body.
“Does it hurt?”, “Is there a risk of festering?”, “Will I feel it in my body?”.

They also have answers to these questions. The blood battery is perfectly fit under your skin and it never causes discomfort, you do not even feel its being. Hence, they call their invention “a battery beyond batteries”.

In addition to all of these, the battery is undoubtedly environment friendly because of its lack of chemicals. Meanwhile, the scientist team has been still working on upgrading its efficiency, quality and best techniques of its production.
