Travel: Prague – Czech Republic

The capital city of Czech Republic, Prague, is one of the most beautiful cities and one of the culture centers of Europe. The city is situated on the river Vltava in central Bohemia. The city is one of the most visited cities of Europe. Prague is also known as the mother of the cities and as the golden city.

Where to visit in Prague?
Prague Castle is the most popular place in Prague. Prague Castle is the largest castle in the world with 570 m long, on average 128 m wide, area 7.28 hectares. It was constructed in the 9th century by Prince Boøivoj. Prague castle has had four constructions but still has a classical look. It has three courtyards and a beautiful view. Prague Lesser Town, which was founded in 1257 on the slopes of Prague Castle, is also another popular place to visit. Of course there is more:  Prague Jewish Quarter (Josefov), named after the emperor Joseph II, was designed to make the lives of the Jewish People better. Prague Old Town, the original settlement place of Prague, is the oldest town of Prague and is worth visiting too. Prague New Town was founded by Charles IV in 1348; it is twice as large as the Old Town. Previously, New Town was mainly inhabited by traders and craftsmen. The modern look makes it different than other popular buildings in Prague. You can rent a car to travel by car in the city, but if you are coming from Australia or New Zealand you should get an international driving license. In order to get to the city centre you can also choose travelling by Bus, Underground, Tram, Minibus, Taxi or Train.


Climate
The Czech Republic has a mild climate. The average temperature in summer is 24 °C and at nights temperature around 15 °C. In winter, the average temperature is around the freezing point and it is rarely snowy in winter. It rains most between May and August.

Culture of Prague
Prague is widely known as a culture centre of Europe with concert halls, theatres, cinemas, art galleries, museums and music clubs in it. National Theatre, The Rudolfinum, State Opera, Estate Theatre, National Museum, National Library and National Gallery are just some of the important cultural institutions. Some music festivals are also held in Prague such as;  Prague Spring International Music Festival, Prague Autumn International Music Festival, Prague International Organ Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Febiofest, Prague Writers Festival and Prague Fringe Festival. It seems that Prague has always something entertaining in store for the visitors. If you have not ever been to Prague, grab your bags; get the tickets and visit Prague and have a great time there.
