Great Pyramid of Giza is located in Giza city, Egypt. In the area there are three pyramids. Giza is the oldest and the largest of them. It was built in 2 BC.
Once upon a time, being the tallest building of the world, Great Pyramid of Giza has always been an important world heritage. It is one of the wonders of ancient world. The name of the pyramid is various, Great Pyramid of Giza, Khufu’s Pyramid, Pyramid of Khufu, and Pyramid of Cheops.
Architecture of Giza Pyramid
Why and how such a building was constructed? Imagine the conditions of that age, there were not any technological devices, there was only human force. Now, in our modern world, we can not build such a building, what made the ancient people to build it?
It is predicted that Giza Pyramid was built for Pharaoh Khufu as a tomb. It is huge in size. Height of the pyramid is approximately 138 meters. The weight of it is predicted to be more than 6 million tones. There is not exact information about who built it. However, Khufu’s official and architect Hemon are most probably built it.
There are predictions about the construction. Some scientists claim that stones were brought from somewhere else, they were brought at that shape and workers replaced them. Some others say that stones already existing in the area were carved and the pyramid was built. There is not exact evidence. However, it is a fact that human made such a building.
Parts of Great Pyramid of Giza
In the Great Pyramid of Giza, there are three chambers. These are King’s Chamber, Queen’s Chamber and unfinished chamber. The largest of them is the unfinished one. Entering the pyramid, two ways lead you. One of them takes you to the unfinished lowest chamber. There are speculations about the construction aim of this part. It is thought that this chamber was built for burial. However, later Pharaoh wanted somewhere else.
King’s chamber is very large. The chamber consists of two shafts. These could be used for fresh air or for some other beliefs. Ancient people believed that the soul of king go and come through these shafts.
Queen’s chamber is found between unfinished chamber and King’s chamber. It is the smallest chamber. The construction is similar to King’s one. It has a large door, and new holes were found by researchers.
