Facebook is a currently popular site in which nearly all of us have an account. The website was launched in 2004 by a university student, Mark Zuckerberg. He launched the site to communicate with his university friends from Harvard and then the site became available for other near colleges. The development came step by step, Harvard students, other college students, students and everyone age +13. It has been open to anyone since 2006 and having a valid email is enough.
Nobody, including Mark, could imagine that Facebook would be so popular. Zuckerberg created this website in his dorm room, after developing it, he moved to California with some of his friends and now he has a big office. He is labeled as the founder and CEO of Facebook. As investors saw it promising, they put money for it and Facebook continued to develop. Every time, the money amount put became more and more, people invested millions of dollars. Co- founder of PayPal Peter Thiel, an investor from Hong Kong Li Ka-shing, and Microsoft invested money in Facebook. Yahoo, Google made offers to buy the site, but up to now, Zuckerberg has not sold it.

Your profile shows your current interests, information, school or job, address, numbers, it is a good way to keep in touch with people. You can follow your friends profile and have knowledge about them. It is a site of networking and it does its duty very well!

The only aim of Facebook is not finding people, as it was developed more and more, fun has become important. Everyday new applications are added, with them you can play game, send gifts, jokes to your friends, and you can also show your interests via these applications.

Facebook is criticized because of privacy and security points. You write all information of you, you can see other’s pages, and news feed shows what is done moment by moment. There are great speculations, even claiming that Facebook is collecting data for military, governmental reasons. Privacy policy is developed along with other features, there is limitation options, and giving information or not is your choice, Facebook Inc. gives guarantee of your privacy till a certain point.
