Metallica: Death MagneticNew album from Metallica: Death Magnetic
The legendary heavy metal band, the greatest band of all times for the most, Metallica, returns with a new album in 2008. The name of the album is Death Magnetic. The album is produced by Rick Rubin, who also recorded albums for SOAD. (System of a Down) It will be their ninth studio album to be released. Current bassist Robert Trujillo plays for the first time in a Metallica album. Robert Trujillo joined the band before the release of St. Anger in 2003. Before Metallica, he played in Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Black Label Society, Jerry Cantrell and in Ozzy Osbourne’s band. He was chosen among too many people. He is a fingerstyle bass player. Metallica gave Robert Trujillo 1 million dollars as an advance of what he will get in the future and it was like a trust issue among the member of the band. The process of his being chosen to the band can be seen on the documentary film, Some Kind of Monster.

After years, Metallica released the new album, St. Anger, which was not a great success in the career of Metallica. Fans did not like the absence of Kirk Hammet’s solos. The band had hard times recording the album; they had long breaks, restricted time because of James Hetfield’s treatments and conflicts because of the aggression, which was also reflected in the album. Most people thought that  St. Anger would be the last album of Metallica, but there was more of Metallica stuff, people were talking about new songs and the rumours came up to be true. On May 15, 2008, Lars Ulrich confirmed that Metallica has recorded 11 songs for Death Magnetic, but there will be 10 songs on the album due to the time restriction. (75 minutes) Metallica will also release a limited edition box-set for the album, Death Magnetic, including two-CD and one-DVD. The box set will be presented as a coffin box. At last, we will be able to listen to the new songs of Metallica around September. Actually, we do not have to wait until the release of the album because the first single of Death Magnetic will be available before the album, on the game Rock Band, which is about to be released soon. Rock Band is not the only game that requested Metallica songs, the famous game, Guitar Hero requested songs from Metallica’s upcoming album as well.

James Hetfield, the lead singer of the band, still seems to be unsure about the titles of the songs but soon, we will be informed about the official tracklist. The band has already broadcasted some videos of the recording process on MissionMetallica.com. Fans become more excited as the new videos are broadcasted and they think a great album is about to come out, at least better than St. Anger. We will be able to hear Kirk Hammet’s solos again in this album, this is alone, may be enough for most of the loyal Metallica fans. This time, different than in St. Anger, James Hetfield wrote all the lyrics and that will be like old Metallica tracks.  All we have to do is to keep patient until the release day and count down until September. You can get the latest information about the album, tour dates and everything about Metallica on Metallica.com. If you get membership you can watch live performances of Metallica, as well.
