IQ - Intelligence QuotientWhat is Intelligence Quotient?
IQ is the abbreviation of Intelligence Quotient; it is a scientific study that tries to figure out the general intelligence level in a frame of some logical rules.  It is intelligence test, however it does not look for the way that people understand knowledge, or how they figure it out. The result of this test does not show the exact results totally, but it has a logical side.

IQ level of a person does not depend only on himself/herself. It is thought that the test is affected by the mood of people during test, the culture, education, society and family has an impact on it, whether parental IQ score is effective or not is a current debate among scientists.

Intelligence Test Studies
Studies on intelligence test began in the beginning of 20th century, first test was published by a French scientist named Alfred Binet, and the theory was developed by William Stern who also coined the abbreviation IQ.

IQ Test
A number of problems are given to the people to be solved in a limited time. Tests generally consist of some forms, points related with language, visual things, these are all to figure out how fast people answer, whether they remember them, their short term memory is strong or not.

Calculating IQ
Different tests are used for different ages, as the age is a key factor to calculate IQ. Both overall score and individual one are calculated. The common calculating formula is like that:

Mental age / Chronological age X 100 = IQ score

The result shows the academic, educational knowledge and skills relatively. It is not the guarantee of success, happiness, and personal achievements, and it is not the sign of failure, either.

Factors Affecting Intelligence Quotient
It is thought that pure mind is not reached via this test; there are some factors that affect it. Genetic heritage has a great effect; it is a relative point as genetic heritage has the risk of being affected by environment, health, education, society, etc. Studying field and education of the persona are the other factors; test does not cover every issue, topic, so an intelligent person can have poor score due to the points mentioned in the test. Environment reshapes the personality and mentality, and it is effective. Mental situation of the tester should be healthy in order to get decent score; otherwise the result is not valid. According to some claims, gender and IQ is related, some searches claim that men score better than women, some others say women have higher score than men, however this is an argument that is open to debate and there is not exact rule about it.
