Hot and Dangerous: Global Warming
June 22, 2008 – 8:47 pm
Global warming is the systematic temperature increase in Earth’s air and water sources, seas, oceans and other ones. This increase causes a climatic change; evaporation increases, rainfall and air movements change. Warming is a result of a long period, it is not something new, however it has become clear for nearly 50 years, temperature of Earth rose.
Warming of Earth is supposed to be “natural”, but human is the main cause of global warming. Pffff, you wear perfume, deodorant, don’t you? You smell good, you look charming and you do not think the effect of these materials, even perfume and deodorant usage has an effect, they sent harmful gases to the atmosphere. A peach tree that is full of flowers in winter, isn’t it strange? Water shortage, starvation, extinction of animal species, they are not rare events, are they? We pollute everywhere without thinking, cars give out exhaust gas, water and soil is full of garbage, how will this end?
Greenhouse Gas
Scientific searches show that greenhouse gas is the main reason of global warming. Greenhouse gas is found in the atmosphere, it is the combination of some elements and greenhouse gas has the ability to keep the temperature at a moderate level. Sun rays pass atmosphere and make the Earth hot, greenhouse gas balances this temperature, and if the order is damaged then earth is warmer than normal. The gases, given out to the atmosphere by people, carbon dioxide, methane, ozone and some other ones make a clear effect on the increasing temperature of earth surface.
The temperature does not increase at the same level in the every part of earth; it will be different for equator, middle latitudes and poles. When there is water shortage in a part of Earth, there will be drought somewhere else. Rainfall will also change; there will be change of amount and types of rain, so the earth will be a place of warmer climate, wet and rainy.
If serious precautions are not taken about global warming, every continent will be affected by this global problem. In Asia, high temperature, drought, floods, typhoons; in Europe, in some part of the continent drought, in some parts floods; in America, more severe problems, severe drought, floods can occur in the near future.
Kyoto Protocol – Reducing release of greenhouse gases
As we see the results of global warming, we are getting more careful about it. People, associations, organizations all take serious precautions against it. One of most important step of these is Kyoto Protocol. It was signed in 1997 to unit all authorities, all people under the same organization, but it has become popular only recently. The main goal of the Kyoto is reducing release of greenhouse gases to the nature. Nearly 170 countries agree with this protocol, but there are still many things to do.
There are some precautions that can be applied in our daily life: We should save electricity, use economical lamp. In order to reduce exhaust gas released by cars, public transportation should be chosen. Filter for automobiles, factory chimneys should be used and they should also be controlled regularly. Everyone should be careful about water usage, our sources look endless, but we have to be careful for next generations, for humanity and nature. Recycling is another key point, if garbage is recycled; less carbon dioxide is released to the atmosphere. Afforestation campaigns should be held in order to inform people about the significance of that and more and more tree should be planted.
