Establishment of Air Berlin
Air Berlin was founded in 1978. It was used by USA as a carrier for 12 years. Then Air Berlin started charter flights and added new destinations to its flight list. Old planes were replaced with new ones and the fleet grew. Especially after the unification of Germany, a new period began for Air Berlin. The company was named as Air Berlin GmbH & Co. Luftverkehrs KG. After that, Air Berlin had flight to some major cities such as London, Vienna and Barcelona.
In 2007, Air Berlin bought LTU International, German charter airline. In addition to that, Air Berlin owns some shareholding of Swiss and Belair. All these make Air Berlin more powerful and important. Nowadays, Air Berlin is making some flight regulations. While some flight numbers are reduced, some other are increased according to the demand. The aim is getting the highest profit. Air Berlin has codeshare agreements with some airline companies. These are Belair, LTU International, Niki and Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter.

Currently, Air Berlin has 130 planes and the company ordered more than this. After new orders arrived, it will be a great fleet. Air Berlin has Airbus, Boeing, Fokker and Bombardier models available. Airbus A319-100, A320-200, A330-200, A330-300, Boeing 737-300, 737-700, 737-800, 757-200, 767-300, 787-8, Fokker 100 and Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 models are used.
