Soul quotient, or briefly SQ is one of them, and it is very popular. New researches pay attention to more emotional points and that is only a reason why SQ is so popular.

Soul quotient is basically identified as the soul intelligence. It is the soul balance, and it is claimed that SQ is the combination of IQ and EQ. In order to have high SQ score, we should have good IQ and EQ, if you lack something mentally or emotionally how can your soul be healthy? They go along together, when score of a side is upgraded, the other one also increases.

Soul quotient makes you notice the other sides of a situation; you can see the inner side, search for causes of it and adapt to it easily. If you are sophisticated, you can lead your destiny, you are aware of the details that form all your life; you notice that the events, we think as coincidence, are planned. Our future is lead not from outside but from inside of ourselves. Soul quotient is what we are!

People having high soul quotient score;

- Have rich spiritual world.
- Question everything.
- Have objective perspective.
- Are aware of the fact that other people have choices, thoughts.
- Are strong in their beliefs.
- Are emotional but they also find logical ways of life.
- Are rational.
- Imagine a lot.
- Are good leaders and guides.
- Have emotionally satisfied life.
- Do not give up when they come across with a problem.
- Are curious.
- Generally believe in a religion, group and mystic things.
- Are ready for personal development.
- Are consistent in mind and in actions.
- Have the belief after a defeat and they can continue.
- Are loved by other people, because they are generally positive people.
- Are analytic, they compare and contrast things and find a way out from a situation, they are quick minded.
- Have strong love for anyone or anything, they have deep emotions.
- Empathy is essential for them, as feelings and thoughts of other people are important for high scored SQ people.

The Relationship between IQ, EQ and SQ
Quotient types are different, but they are also closely related to each other. Imagine that you are feeling bad, your studies go bad, your soul is hurt, they are all related, the human is combination of many things and these things work well if they are coherent. This summarizes the basic relationship between IQ, EQ, and SQ.

The best way to understand this type of quotient is comparing it with other types. If there is a problem of us, IQ does not react, EQ is confused but does not know what to do and SQ solves it as it is the combination of both IQ and EQ. If you want something IQ asks for the logical side of it, EQ asks for the way of desiring it and EQ looks for the acceptability of this thing. With IQ you can only predict the future, with EQ you can feel it, and with SQ you predict more accurately and you see. SQ brings you to the correct conclusion.

Do you hear a voice from your deep inside telling you to do anything anytime without waiting or thinking? Another voice tells you should not do it, it is not right, moral, and something balances it. These are ID, superego, and ego. This triangle is the structural psyche model of Freud and it is explained with iceberg example. There is a huge part of iceberg that we can not see in the water which symbolizes our primitive part and it is called ID, near the surface of water there is another level, this is superego, it always tries to prevent us from making some actions, and the last part can be seen on the surface of water, it is ego, it is the balancing part of our psyche. Conscious, preconscious and unconscious mind is the source of Freud’s Models of Mind.

Terms Ego, Superego, ID
You can wonder where these concepts are coming from; Freud did not originate all these, his original terms were in German: “das Es,” “das Ich,” and “das Über-Ich”, they can be translated into English directly as: “the it”, “the I”, and “Over I”.

What is ID?
I want food! I want to pee! I want to have sex! Do you hear these sentences from your soul? Is your soul like a naughty child? And you want all these at the same time without waiting? Nothing can prevent you! This is your primitive side and Freud calls it as ID. No social rules, morality, authority, psyche only wants. Babies have the dominant ID, but with age, we have less “primitive” ID.

What is Superego?
Superego is the controlling part of human psyche. While our souls say do that, take it, make it, superego limits our desires. Morality, rules, clichés, authority is essential and if you do anything, it should be in the frame of all these. Do not you ever experience such things: You want to go out with your boyfriend, but first of all your parents do not approve it, they also say “Think the thoughts of other people!”, so you always think what other people say, what I should do, what the general rule is. This is your dominant superego.

What is Ego?
Ego balances the desires of superego and ID. ID keeps on wanting, superego looks for right thing and ego tries to find a common way. Ego is the realistic level, the main function of it providing security and making some of the wishes of ID true. It is like a judge deciding what is true, what should be done. Ego is affected by superego, ID and other external factors, after examining all these points, the exact decision is given by it.
It is one of the current theories on human kind and psychology, it was first mentioned in 1940s, but it is still being searched, argued and developed. Basically hierarchy of needs exemplifies the necessity of people, there is a chain and the more human get the more s/he wants and in the end, everyone reaches the true self. There are not strict rules limiting each other, however generally human psychology leads a way that Maslow depicted in his hierarchical theory.

Categories of Maslow’s Theory
If you are hungry you do not think security, if you are safe you look for more, you want love, after getting all these, your personality gains importance, and in the end you try to find true self. That is an example to Maslow’s chain of needs, there is a hierarchical form as the necessities increases. Hierarchy of Needs consists of five levels, all connected to each other. These levels are like that:

1. Physiological needs: Human kind needs some basic things, such as breathing, food, water, sex, health. If one of them is not provided, body tries to cover it and there is no extra effort for other necessities, so the first step should be fulfilled. A man who is hungry, ill does not want anything rather than health and food, for him having a good statue is not important, first of all, he must be healthy and have food.

2. Safety needs: If you do not need food, and you are healthy, what do you look for? A house maybe? Shelter and emotion of safety? If you feel secure at your home, if you are healthy, have a job, money and family, it means the second level is fulfilled.

3. Love and Belonging: Who does not want true love and the belonging feeling? Do not take it only the love between two people, this level is about friendship, family relationships, and human communication. After providing basic needs and having security, love and the belonging feeling come in the chain of Maslow.

4. Esteem: Self confidence, respect, being successful and believing in success, empathy, all these are in the fourth step of theory. With this step, human is closer to true self. Think of a person who has food, shelter, good relationships, and security, what comes next? Doesn’t s/he search for herself/himself?

5. Self Actualization: It is the peak point of the persona. This level comes true after all these four ones, physical, security, love and belonging, and esteem. If you have all these, it is easy for you to make the best of something. In this level, creativity, morality, acceptance, being true is important points. For a person reaching this level, morality is important, s/he accepts the world as it is, ideas and movements go along together, creativity plays a key role, human relationships are intimate, objectivity is a life perspective.
Do you only use words and sounds to communicate? If so, you are missing a big point: Body language and its effectiveness. Using gestures, body movements along with words, verbal elements are called body language. Communication does not only mean speaking and listening, movements, mimics, gestures of people are all categorized as communication, these can be both intentional movements and also sometimes the persona is not aware of the action such as looking from other side, wrinkling, smiling etc.

Why Do People Use Body Language?
There are many psychological searches about why people use body language; there are many different and reasonable reasons of it:

- Intentional movements to affect the listener.

- Persona is unaware of the action and has no intention to affect or prove, it is the psychological side of using body language. These unaware made actions reveal the real mood of the speaker. A liar can be understood by analyzing her/his gestures, movements, etc.

- It is a way of sending signals to other people.

- Body language can be the purest form of communication as human use whatever word s/he wants, however body language is inevitable, human use it inevitably.

- Listener has a key role during communication, body language user may want to be understood not easily, a hard way is chosen and listener has to spend effort to understand.

- Using body language in working life is very important, no matter how successful, intelligent you are, without having an effective personality, communication skills you are nothing.

- Verbal language is not enough, so people look for something else to support it.

There is no exact description of emotional intelligence, the most famous one is that: “the ability to monitor one’s own and others’ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions.” by Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer.

IQ and EQ
The concept goes with IQ; however they are very different, EQ is a current studying field compared with IQ, and they deal with different things. IQ shows the intelligence level with some problems and rules, EQ is quite different, and it is about the psychological side of human. IQ gives a certain result that can not be changed with time, EQ score can be changed, developed, the relationship between emotional data and intelligence is quite unclear, so there are many different claims on emotional intelligence. Some scientists claim that EQ is changeable, while some others claim just the opposite.

EQ and Life
The contribution of intelligence quotient and emotional one to the life, their impact on success of a person is always argued; but it is accepted that having high score of IQ is not the guarantee of success or happiness. Emotional quotient is a clear indication of successful life; think of a person who is self confident, happy, successful, talented, even if her/his IQ score is low s/he would most probably lead a good life. People, who know the limit of their emotions and social skills, are happier and more productive in life.

Models of EQ
There is not exact definition or model of emotional quotient; however three major models are used widespread. These are:
- Ability based model
- Trait model
- Mixed models

Ability based model: This model sees emotion as a way to personal development. Emotions make a person realize the environment. Every human being figure out knowledge differently and relates it with emotions. Perceiving, using, understanding and managing emotions are steps of this model.

Trait model: Trait model is related with ability based one, this model identifies the recognition, processing, and using emotional data.

Mixed models: There are some mixed models, ways of them are all different, Goleman model, and the bar on model are just two of these models.

It is an educational approach claiming that there are different types of intelligence. Gardner claims that every persona is born with these different types of intelligence, if s/he studies for every field, every type of intelligence can be developed; however a person can focus on only a type, or some types and other types can fade away. Briefly, intelligence can be shaped with effort; a person can be master of a specific field, if s/he focuses on it. According to Gardner, there are eight intelligence types, and currently a new type, existential intelligence is argued. Categories of intelligence and features of them will be mentioned above.
