However, there are five basic skin types. These are: Normal, oily, dry, combination and sensitive. It is very easy to determine your skin type.
Normal skin: Firstly, you should determine your skin type. For this, you need a piece of tissue. You wipe your face with a dry tissue when you wake up in the morning. If the oil does not come on the paper, you have normal skin. This skin type has not any greasy or flaky areas. It is neither dry nor greasy. It is the least problematic skin. It looks clean and smooth. It has a good elasticity. In the world, less than 20% women have normal skin type. This skin looks healthy and vibrant. Normal skin does not need any special care.
Oily skin: Apply the same test to your skin again. If you have oily skin, the oil comes on the paper. It is a problematic skin type. Diets, pregnancy, cosmetics, birth control pills, hormone levels, heredity, humidity and hot weather cause this skin type. This skin is common in teenagers.
The sebaceous glands are over reactive and it makes the face shinny. The pores are enlarged and visible. Your chin, forehead and nose look greasy, shinny and coarse. It needs special care. Avoid the use of rich creams. Use oil- based products. Keep your skin very clean and use hot water when washing your face. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Dry skin: When you wash your skin, your skin feels very tight. It lacks both sebum and moisture. This skin type can be itchy and irritated. Pollution, climatic conditions and ultraviolet irradiation cause dry skin. It is very common skin type. The pores are very fine. You need moisturizer and rich night creams throughout the day. You should avoid the use of harsh soaps when you clean your face. You should eat lots of fruits and drink plenty of water everyday.
Combination skin: It is a combination of both oily and dry skin. If the oil is on only T- zone (nose, chin, the center of forehead), you have combination skin. The seasons, stress, heredity, hormonal fluctuations cause combination skin.
Most of the women in the world have this skin type. T- zone is called Temple Zone. Dry zones are located around the eyes and on the cheeks. The T-zone requires a separate cleaning routine. Use a rich moisturizer on the dry areas and wash the oily area with a medicated soap. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water everyday.
Sensitive skin: It is the most fragile skin. It burns very easily and has more sensitivity to wind, perfume and cosmetics. When you wake up in the morning, you wash your face. If your skin feels dry and itchy in places, you have sensitive skin. More than 40% of people have this skin type in the world. Redness, rashes and skin irritation are the most common symptoms of this skin type. If you wear make up, you choose hypoallergenic products.
